Great explanation of the theories of political systems. However, can you honestly say that the US republic has not fallen victim to the corruption, excesses, abuse of power that the Founding Fathers feared would come about from a democracy?
That is why they formed a republic, not a democracy. The US government has evolved, that is the whole point of the video.
What does "excesses" mean? Does that mean that people have gotten rich/more than their fair share? If that is what it means, I say it is none of your business to determin what someone's "fair share" ought to be. And it is none of the government's business either.
I'm a business guy and I believe that free market capitalism has and can solve many of the world's problems if backed by a stable and supporting government. I work for an investment firm in primarily a finance and operations role and hold a couple business degrees, most recently a Master's Degree in Finance. I love to discuss business, politics, economics, and technology.
